Things I Love, Right Now.

-Bestweekever.tv Wow. I didn't know that the internet could waste anymore of my time than it currently does. This blog is so worth it.-New camera bag. I needed something other than a backpack for the fancypants camera. This is a Kata brand bag, and I heart it because it was ubercheap compared to every other bag in existence, is green, and feels all safe.

-This place. Because they are teaching me how to speak Turkish for free, and they always have tea and awesome food.

-My internet girlfriend. Who, I swear, I am writing a letter to. And an email before that. Me = bad at correspondence.

-eMusic, and the husband who looks for great music so I don't have to.

-Books. Which ones? I can't remember. All of them? Wait, that's not true. Mitch Album exists. ZIIIIIIIIINNNNG! (So sad when you have to narrate your own zings.)

-The phrase, "We are long tailed cats in a room full of rocking chairs." Spoken by a co-worker, and so, so true.

-Anyone who might still read this lame and ludicrously self-indulgent blog.

-Of course, the children. (Pathetic, yes, well aware.)

-Sewing. I miss it, it has been neglected recently for doing photo stuff.

-There were more but I forgot. Sorry, if you are something I love that I forgot to mention.

Spring Break!

It just doesn't have the same meaning anymore. I cleaned up the attic/craft room and probably spent the other 110 hours watching House and sleeping. The never-quite-unpacked-pile.
The it-has-to-get-worse-before-it-gets-better-stage. (Lasted two days.)(Sigh of relief.)Classy, yes? I have been doing a bit more photographing that crafting lately, so I apologize for the lull, I plan on sewing some things to other things...soonish.

I was rearranging our CD collection in color order. And, yes, that is a painting of Alf pushing a wheelbarrow containing golfing shoes. Yup.

Temperate Climate.

A fluctuation of 50 degrees and five inches of snow in 6 days? Naaaaaaaah.
Saturday:Today, sunny and in the 60's. I am wearing capri pants and a t-shirt. Isn't t-shirt a funny name? Can't we just start calling them shirts now? C'mon.

I really have nothing more to say about it.

Lauren.Ok. Now that I have gotten that out of the way, I also wanted to mention that I put a few new items in Ye Olde Etsy Shoppe. (The extra vowels make it fancier, yo.) These photographs are something I did for a local craft store about two years ago, and have been wasting away on my hard drive ever since.
They are printed on this BEAUTIFUL metallic paper that make the colors super vivid and awesome, seriously, why did I not know about metallic paper before now? Anyway, I printed them, they exist, yadda yadda yadda, you can buy them if you want.
I missed you, internets, I really did.

World of Fashion.

Yup. I am now officially one of THOSE people. Not that I expect I will be steppin' out in any handmade outfits anytime soon, but my pattern stash just increased EXPONENTIALLY.
Ok, so it is insane to get one of these in the mail, while it is fabulous, it is also a bit crushing, knowing that even if you quit your job and stopped eating and speaking you would only ever be able to finish 1/2 of these patterns before the next issue comes. But, whatever.
I have to say, as excited as I was, I was TERRIFIED when I opened it up to this page. You see what I'm saying here? Should blue floral capri pants exist? No, Burda WOF, they should not. Also, the women who are whipping these up seem to have a real affinity for leopard print that I do not share. Anyway, after getting through the initial shock of seeing the scary flat version of the clothes, I was VERY pleasantly surprised by the photography and fashion "story" format of the magazine. How AWESOME is that lace jacket? So awesome. And maybe when I wear it I will look like an intense German model, right? There are several of these patterns I will Definitely (cough) think about making. And, then, six months later, actually make. If the stars are aligned, and the moon is in retrograde. Promise.

Amazement and Announcements.

Ok, so you know when you have a camera that you love, but you're getting a new camera, and you think, well, it will be better, but how much better can it really be? After all, a camera is a camera, it's the operator that makes the difference. NOT TRUE. Maybe I am the only one who thought that way, and I surely shouldn't have, having worked with many many cameras of varying awesomeness, but the Nikon takes the cake.And, of course, it is all about lenses, and this lens makes me cry for the wonderfulness. Long story short, I got it, I love it, I clutch it to my chest when I sleep, and while I will still take a depressing amount oh photographs of my cat, they will be INCREDIBLE.
Sigh.Announcement is this: I have neglected my etsy too long, and so I am cutting some prices on quilts and such, and have put some sweet little fabric bundles in the shop. I have realized that I have an insane abundance of delightful prints in my fabric stash, which is great, but, guess what? I almost exclusively use solids. D'oh.They're the good stuff, all high-quality vintage and modern stuff, and they are 2 1/2 yards for $14. It's a good deal if you are stash building, and come on, you need a good deal, it's a recession.
