The Animal Family

Baxter loves you all so much. He purrs as he sits on the computer chair's armrest, while I read him your comments. Yes, he thinks, I AM super cute! But Rufus gets jealous, and so I have to compensate....
Oh, and those fabulous fabrics, including the plaidish wavy one? Most are from the "Come Quilt with Me" line that did Pat Yamin for Marcus Brothers. I got it on super sale from fabric.com at like 3.25 a yard or some ridiculousness, but I think they are out now. Sorry.

By the way, did I mention that Baxter plays fetch? He's much better that Rufus at it, too. But don't tell Rufus I said that, he's a little embarrassed about it.

Something Fallish This Way Comes

Thanks for all the love on the Big Stair quilt, guys. I would like to say I've been so quiet because I've been sooo busy producing endless amounts of sewn-goodness, but that would be a lie. I've just been doing other VITALLY important things, like sitting around and making cupcakes and watching bad tv on DVR. DVR is amazing, no? Anyway, for my mother here is Baxter, and for the rest of you, here is what I'm working on now.

Big Stairs FInished

I now have so many variations on Rice Krispie Treats to make that I don't know if I will ever get another thing crafted, but luckily I managed to finish this last week. I LIKE zigzags, I've decided, and that's all there is to it.

Corntastic!

Ok, so, I am presenting the fabulous Rice Krispie recipe today (because every day is "tomorrow" to me,) but I wanted to preface it by mentioning that this is not what we would call, you know, a healthy recipe. By any means. So be warned before you start, they are addictive, and easy to make, and about 90% corn syrup, speaking of which, has anyone else seen the heinous propaganda the corn refining industry is putting out? I spotted a commercial the other night wherein this drama played out:
(Kids birthday party, children running around screaming, and two women stand in front of a table. One women begins pouring some juice-looking drink into a pitcher)

Tactless Yuppie Mother: So, you really don't care what your kids eat, huh?
Corn Refiners Union Mother: What do you mean?
TYP: Well, that contains HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP.
CRUM: So?
TYP: Don't you know what they're saying about HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP??
CRUM: That it is less expensive than sugar and made out of DELICIOUS, WHOLESOME CORN?
TYP: (Stunned, unable to summon up facts to dispute completely ludicrous Wholesome Corn Argument) Well, I guess it's just fine after all!
(Play voiceover encouraging you to visit sweetsurprise.com, the Corn Refiners Association website.)

Really? Seriously? Really? That's about all I can say. And now, because the CRA already has me in their pocket, I present:

Chocoalate Butterscotch Rice Krispie Treats!!

1 c. white CORN syrup
1 c. sugar
1 c. peanut butter
6 c. Rice Krispies
1/2 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. butterscotch chips

Boil sugar and syrup until mixture starts to boil. Remove from heat and add peanut butter, then mix in Rice Krispies. Press into buttered 13"x 9" pan. Melt chocolate and butterscotch chips together and spread over other mixture.

Slow Progress

After a (cough) rather long hiatus, the Big Stair quilt is almost finished. You know, if you don't count the fact that it still has to be bound. Which I'm not counting. I should be working on it, but this afternoon is so beautiful and rainy and delightfully chilly that I have busied myself in the warm office, updating ye olde etsy storefront. For no reason really, other than the current one was meant to be temporary when put into action, Oh, a year ago. Whatever. I can feel fall coming, and to wecome it, I am going to make Special Rice Crispie Treats. Recipe tommorow.
(By the way, not Special like, illegal special. It's not that kind of blog.)
