"Tomorrow" and Other Uninteresting Facts.

It is amazing how reluctant these quilt squares are to sew themselves together! Really! It sure would save me a lot of time.
So, actually, nothing interesting from today, although I am planning on attempting it tomorrow. However, something UNINTERESTING that I never realized about myself before i started doing this blog thing, is that I almost CONSTANTLY misspell the word "tomorrow". And I consider myself a good speller, but something about double consonants, man, it just throws me off. You take that to the bank, now, hear?

Lost Week

All right, so I feel bad about missing an ENTIRE week of blog-ability, but to tell the truth, it was a wasted week. On Sunday I came down with an awful cold given to me by my employer, and was off work for two days. The bad thing about this was that since there are only three of us at work, and we were all infected, (I hear its being pinned on someone from across the street...) the studio was pretty much deserted for a couple of days. Towards the end of the week I really started to feel like a human again, but I can't say that the whole week was terribly productive.
Well, I suppose with one exception. This little apron was something I made for a craftster swap, and while it has its flaws, I ended up pretty pleased with it. It was fairly simple to construct, which was good, because my still-recovering mind couldn't possibly have dealt with anything more complex. It is loosely based on a half apron i saw at Anthropologie, a store that fills me with so many mixed feelings nowadays- but that's a whole other story. for now I am going to keep this post short and apologetic and hope I can come up with something actually INTERESTING for tomorrow.

Pincushion Love

So today, interesting photo shoot at work, and a minor blizzard in Kansas City, but I want to write about pincushions. Oh, pincushions. in the course of about a week I made six or so of these nice little things, to sell at a craft auction at B's parents church. They were so cute while they lived here, sitting huddled up on a plate on the ironing board, and now they have gone, and some mysterious force has sapped me of the will to make more.
Why? I don't know. My personal pincushion is the Wal-Mart tomato variety and once fell in bleach, giving it a nasty two-tone look, and so I am in desperate need of an upgrade. Maybe tomorrow. For now, I will just dwell on the dearly departed.

Valentine's Celebrations

Ahh..is there anything better than a really good thrift store find? Especially one in bulk? Yesterday I managed to visit my hometown and just could not resist going in my favorite Salvation Army Thrift Store. I got there at about 4:30 and at when they shut the lights off at 4:55 I was scrambling, on the floor, to pick up as many 10 cent zippers as i could throw into my cart. I must have gotten 150 or so, because, seriously, 10 CENTS!! I will never buy zippers again. Pictures to come soon.

I also scored this WONDERFUL fabric that I think will become both a message board covering and an apron. So, Happy Valentine's Day to me!

Somewhat productive sunday and retail love.

Yesterday was a fairly productive day, Kansas City was pretty gray but not nearly as cold as it has been, and everything just seemed to fall together perfectly. Husband and I stayed home in the morning and watched HGTV real-estate programming, and then in the afternoon our neighbor came over to burn a CD of Brazilian music on our computer. It was was lazy and meandering and fun, and I managed to finish sewing the patchwork tote bag I started last week (see below), as well as laying out the squares for the baby blanket I'm making (see above).

Last night we went to a new church that both B and I are REALLY excited about- we gushed all the way home, which wasn't a short drive, as we tend to get lost whenever we cross the Kansas/Missouri border. Oh, Kansas, you are a treacherous, treacherous state.

Tonight was far less productive, but we did manage to get out to Target, because I was dying to get my hands on some of the new Proenza Schouler GO line. I purchased a couple of shirts and held out on a pretty good dress, because I seem to have noticed that while I love to buy dresses, the very seldom ever get worn... there's a special section of my closet where they go to stylishly languish.
All right, I'm getting ridiculous. Enough for now.
