News! Kindof! Maybe! Exclamations!

Ah! I'm really excited because I found out yesterday that a tutorial I posted on Craftster quite a while back has been linked to from the Craftzine.com Blog! Woot! If you want to check it out, the mention is here.I should also thank Craftster user Dorion who put the link on the craftster thread to let me know. It's kind of cool to know that other people MIGHT make something that I kinda showed them how to make- now I feel bad about the other tutorial I promised to make for a bag. I'm sure I'll finish it. Someday.
In other semi-exciting news, well, only exiting if you're me, really, I scored some pretty sweet thrift store finds this Sunday. Some great polyester flowers, and nice cotton heavyweight stuff too. The only downside to buying so much fabric is all the ironing that accompanies it. I've already done plenty lately.

Tomorrow night at work is the big Fish Fry, you may remember my beerfish invites? Well, in honor of the festivities, I am going to make fish-frying aprons for all of us fish-frying folk (ie, the people who work there, ie, David and Paula and I) out of these adorable dish-clothes I got at a local gardening store. Pictures forthcoming, I (almost) promise.
On a somewhat sad but also very happy note, this is the last blog entry I will write on the PC. We got out iMac in the mail today. Here it is, in all it's boxed glory.
I spruced it up a bit for B when he comes home. You've been a serviceable, if slow, friend, PC, and we will miss you, but not that much. Yay for Macs!

Tote Bag Fever

So seriously, is tote bag fever not the corniest blog title ever? Because I'm pretty sure it is. I am seriously, seriously lame right now, most likely because I have been spending far too much time around making tote bags and singing the WKRP theme song to myself and not interacting with, you know, people. Well, I've interacted with Brian, but we mostly just sing the WKRP theme song together.Since my last post I have produced three more of these giant tote bag, one of wich was sold to my lovely neighbor the day after it was finished and therefor never photographed, and these two, which I made for the etsy store. They're quite a bit of fun to make, and really very soft, the tan fabric is kindof a heavy brushed-feeling cotton, and all the good quilting stuff at the top is very soft... I'm thinking that I will have to make one for myself, even thought I have about four million bags already, and I'm really in love with the faux bois combo one, soo....
Big news around here is the impending move, and therefor the getting rid of some stuff. Stuff like.... this computer! Friday night Brian ordered the new iMac, and we are both terrible excited. I use an iMac at work and love it, its so fast and shiny, not to mention pretty. I've already started to decorate his office in my head, it's going to have a cowboy/paint by numbers theme...if it is allowed. Cross your fingers, I'm shaking with anticipation.

Random Stuff, All the Time.

I think I would be much better at this blog thing if it wasn't for the words part of it. I generally am pretty good about the pictures, but the words....yikes.Things I've been meaning to write about:
-Meeting Emiko of the GREAT blog Kitchen M at work this past week. Check out her stuff its insanely fabulous, and I'm not just saying that because I want her to come back and hang out at the studio....
-deciding to stay in the same neighborhood when we move out of our sublet in a few weeks, making our move a total of like... 200 feet. If that. But I am bad at distance estimation.

-This headband I made for our friend and neighbor Jami's birthday...which was, yeah, last month, but her party was this weekend, and amazing. Awesome food? Check. Mariachi band? Check. Giant yellow goat pinata? Check.
-This bag I made my mom for Mother's Day. I'm making more for the etsy shop, too, they're so fun to make, and really nice and sturdy.
-These brownies I made, they were strictly mediocre, but kind of pretty on the windowsill.

Lots Of Fruit.

I'm not lying. I'm mostly just going to post pictures of fruit.... It's been kind of slow around here lately. I have made three baby bibs, all of which I gave away before photographing...This one is still in the works, so I decided t snap it before it is finished and I give it away without photographing. Naughty. How is it that little cat tails always get into my pictures of apples? And cat noses in my pictures of pears? It is a mystery, for sure.

Kitty Quilt, and I Am Sorry.

Oy. I am the worst blogger ever. Apologies, and some pictures, including "Kitty Quilt", which is what you make when your cat gets irritated with your cheap-litter-buying habits and decides to pee on your favorite chair. Sad, sad, sadness. But we've made up, become consistent with litter brands, and have almost forgotten the $75 vet bill to be told my pet is a spoiled brat.

I just can't get enough of thrift store trays and tiny tiny apples.

Recent Events and Fabulous New Rugs

It's been an exciting past couple of days, I must say, lots of stuff happening at work, a few craft projects completed, some spring cleaning, thrifting, and decorating... I'm far too lazy to type, so here it goes, in pictures!New Rug! B and I went there on a whim, after going to Paper Source, and discovered this wonderful and rather inexpensive rug there... a 5x7 rug with a great orange print for $70? Yes, please. You might have bee wondering, how Baxter feels about the new rug? We think he likes it.Invitations for the fish fry/cookout we're having at work. As soon as I found out about the party, I said, "I'll make invitations!"....met with dead silence. Apparently, in this day and age, paper invitations are a thing of the past. Will that stop me? No. I had the idea, and just could not live without seeing my beer-fish invites realized. Thought they were kind of a headache to cut out... The text will be on the round mustard color labels you can kind of see in the pictures, and will be stuck on the back. Martha may not approve, but they sure do make me happy.Speaking of things making me happy... how about this tin for 25 cents! It is now being used to hold a bunch of junk, uhm, I mean, valuable small items that I had sitting in a basket, looking a bit exposed and messy. I love it. Isn't the pattern great? And look at the side!Look at these tiny apples I picked up at the Asian supermarket! Aren't they cute? And they taste really good too, very sweet and crisp. Also, the cup is another 10 cent thrift store find. I also got two really great blue blouses that were Delta flight attendant uniforms for 1.49 each. I'm planning on doing some recon on those though, maybe give them a little appliqué loving. Here are two of my most recent projects, both in the etsy shop. Ive been on kind of a blue/green kick lately, can you tell? And this little keychain will be going out to my second etsy customer. I'm really enjoying making these, even though they take a bit too long for their size..
That's all for now. Tomorrow, I will recount the recent Baxter drama, that led to the loss of $75, a little bit of my dignity, and the creation of a "cat quilt". Also, my fabulous new apron! Anticipate, internet, anticipate.
