I am still around.

Lately it has just been so insanely busy at work and so nice outside that it's been pretty hard to sit down in front of this little computer. But to make up for it, I have compiled a monster post of things I love.
Baxter, my cat, the best cat ever. It is surprising to most anyone who knows me that I have not mentioned him more in blog-format, but I am trying to keep crazy-cat-lady-ness out of this.
Spring! And grocery store flowers!
New shoes!!

The street we live on right now and the big flowery trees.
The kitchen in this apartment and gas stoves. There's a reason people say "Now we're cooking with gas." FAR superior.
Wonderful fabric packages from Canada...Thanks, Marija!
And, of course, husband. I am a lucky lucky girl.

Little Treechain and EXCITEMENT!

Ok, yes, "treechain" is about the dorkiest word I've ever coined, but it fits, doesn't it? I made this tonight after my long weekend of making NOTHING (sigh), excited to send it off to its new owner..MY FIRST ETSY CUSTOMER!
Yes! I honestly, really was not anticipating anything selling for, well, a while, if ever, so imagine my surprise when I check my email only to find that I have sold something, AND it has already been paid for! The wonders of this modern world, they never cease to amaze me. So how does this tie in with treechain? Oh, it doesn't, I just felt like my first customer should get SOME sort of prize for absolutely making my day.
Here is everything all packed up in its little box and...All ready to ship tommorow!
Now I know, really, this is kind of insane, all this documentation, you woulda thought someone had a baby or sent their kid off to kindergarten, but... it's just exciting. Other etsy sellers, you guys know the feeling?

Greedy for Presents

I have the best husband ever. Ever. That's all there is to it. And I swear I'm not basing that solely on all the presents he just gave me, but they sure don't hurt.
See, we celebrate President's Day instead of Valentine's Day, and I know, you're saying, wasn't that, like, a month ago? Yes, but we will forgive him because LOOK at all this loot!
And he didn't just give it to me, he went to elaborate lengths to convince me that an amazon order was coming, in two shipments, to my work, but that it contained only stuff for him. So i get the first shipment and I'm so stunned and happy, because, c'mon, surprise present in the mail, but I STILL thought the shipment the next day was for him, because he kept going on about how much he was looking forward to getting it. So, big surprise for gullible me, SECOND box o' amazon presentage.
By the way, all of these items are awesome, and I highly recommend getting someone to purchase them for you (har), especially the new Rosie Thomas CD, ANYTHING with Andrew Bird involved, and the books, well, both FABULOUS.

A few more.

Here are the little tree pouches I made last night. If all goes well, time-wise, they should be going up on etsy tomorrow. It just seems like there is never enough time to finish all the things I have in my head I need to finish-- but I'm sure everyone feels that way. Anyway, not much for writing tonight, so, pictures.

Little Trees

All right, you remember that cool brown and white fabric from my last post? Because if you don't, it's pretty much directly below this, so just go ahead and look. Well, I looked at it for exactly four minutes and knew what I wanted to make with it: little tree pouches! Amd I have! This is the one I finished last night, and I made two more slightly different ones tonight that I will post tommorow. These are bound for the sadly neglected etsy shop, but I have to make more because I will very much need one to keep for myself. Fortunately, they are really quite enjoyable to make, and so cheery and perfect for spring.
Speaking of which, isn't Spring just THE BEST? Especially after a long nasty winter, Spring is just the most amazing mood enhancer there is. It smells good. It feels good. Excessive layering gets old after three months. You can leave the windows in your car down ALL THE TIME... Well, actually, I better go, I should probably roll those back up now.

Very Brief

Today has been a crazy-long day that went nothing like I expected it to, but it was great nonetheless. I have several finished bits of craftiness that I am just dying to post, but I want to wait until I have ample time to write about them, so, hopefully tomorrow. For now I just want to show you a few of the lovely fabrics I picked up at thrift shops today. More coming soon, I promise!

New Bulletin Board

This weekend was, unfortunately, not terribly productive as far as crafty things are concerned... or anything, for that matter. Where did the weekend go? Where is the week going? I never know. I did manage to make this little bulletin board out of some of my thrifted fabric. It isn't completely finished, because I haven't located the heavy duty staple gun that I KNOW I have somewhere, but it is functional for now.

The Ugly Pillow

See this pillow? Notice that it is sitting all alone, like it has no friends? Well, it doesn't, not a single friend, and that is because it is ugly. Now, were we talking about a person I would probably hesitate to judge so harshly based on physical characteristics, but when it comes to pillows, it's all about looks. So, I have started cutting my strips so I can make one of those great log-cabin pillow covers, inspired mostly by Lisa Congdon's FABULOUS pillows, that can be seen in all their flickr glory here. Now, you may be thinking, oh, starting another project, must have gotten some progress made on those sad blanket squares... Yeah, no, of course not. Because isn't it better to be in the middle of several things at once, really? Let's pretend so, because I have already told my boss (who owns the ugly pillow) that I am doing this.
