Your Daily Lesson.

Public Service Announcement of the day, folks: never chop onions before you've put in your contacts. You will forget, and put in your contacts with your twice-washed-but-still-stingy-as-HALE fingers, and you will be very sad. In fact, you will cry for like, ten minutes. Lesson learned the hard way.Oh, Rachel (British Rachel, not Canadian Raych), Baxter is still alive and kicking. If you need proof, look no further than this photo to see that not only is he fine, he is planning universal domination. And no, I didn't make him sit on that book, he did it on his own. Clever cat.For the past few days we have been blizzarded in, but today it is SUNNY, and so I am walking around the house in slippers taking photos of random stuff. And by house I mean, like, two rooms. Behold, the bed is "made"! The quotation marks are necessary because the bedmaking is nontraditional, in that it is two twin-sized quilts on a queen sized bed, going the wrong way. The husband and I are not blanket-compatible, you see: I MUST be cocooned in such a way that I can feel blanket under me on every side of my body, and he is a sleep-quilt-kicker-offer. So we have our own. Surely we can't be the only ones?Check it, the blizzard was so bad that the world turned black and white again. Crazy, huh.

sid and i share a quilt, but i get another blanket doubled up on my top of the bed. so, we can still cuddle underneath (i need his heat) but i get the extra coverage that keeps me alive.

We also have our own blankets. If air gets in a blanket-crack I get very upset.

In Germany all of the beds are made up with two twin size duvets. They fold them in half and you each get your own. LOVE that. Still trying to convince dh to go european, but he will have nothing to do with it. He has the fan on for noise and steals the covers while I double freeze my you know what. ;-)

hahaha -- i'm right there with you. my solution, though, was to get king-size top sheets/comforter/quilts for our queen-size bed, because although C is a blanket-kicker-offer, the doggins think it's humorous to ignore all the stuff he's kicked off and instead steal as much as they possibly can of MY half of the blankets. all while sleeping sideways in the center of the bed, of course. a girl just can't get a break!

Cats dominate the world already. Nice to see Baxter advertising the fact. What a handsome covetable chap he is.... sigh....

I can't imagine the pain from onions.. my bad experience was with nail polish remover. ouch!
We have one or two king sized quilts on our tall queen sized bed. (One if we have the flannel sheets, two if we have cotton sheets). I remember hubs as being a pillow thrower and quilt kicker-offer, but it has been so long since I slept soundly in his bed that I've kind of forgotten. Now I sleep on a full sized futon with my 2 yr old where we have 2 smaller quilts going opposite directions-- one throw with a twin on top, crosswise. This way my back stays warm but my feet get cold. the kid is a quilt kicker too, what am I gonna do? :)

I gave up quilt-sharing years ago , which may be why we're still together !
I need to be cocooned , while Husband tosses , flails and wriggles . Now I need to persuade him not to choose a squeaky floorboard to do his Tai Chi on when he really can't sleep !

You are not alone. I like a big fluffy duvet and Tim sleeps all winter with just a sheet and a summer weight blaket - and still gets hot. I'm wondering about making a quilt with triple batting on my side and none on his. But who am I kidding - I'll never get around to making a quilt. Ha !

And I particularly like jana's use of the term "blanket-crack".

TOO FREAKIN FUNNY!!!

My hubs and I usually have separate blankets too. He'll get hot and kick the blankets off, and then when he gets cold again, he tries to steal mine. I think I've come up with somewhat of a solution to this problem, though. I made a hideous tied fleece blanket that is GARGANTUAN. I'm talking bigger than king-size. It it truly massive. So big, in fact, that I can't put it in my washing machine. But we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Anyway, Its so big that can both comfortable cocoon ourselves and still have plenty of extra slack around for nighttime adjustments.

See you this week!
