To Do List.
So, today is the first day of what I will refer to optimistically as "summer break" but what is, in actual fact, glorified unemployment. Thus, hopefully the beginning of the end for all the projects I have started during the school year but left unfinished, citing not enough time as the excuse. There's all the time in the world, now.(EDIT: Before I fixed it, I had used three quotations in this paragraph. Raych, please forgive me.)As you can see, the quilt that I had been making the blocks for (It has no name yet... usually I am a quick and lazy quilt namer, but I haven't come up with one for this yet. Suggestions?) has been laid out, and now needs to be pieced, which, mneh, I am not looking forward to. See all those blocks? I know everybody else on the internet does awesome , ridiculously time intensive stuff with teeny weenie blocks and strips, but I am used to slapping 25 blocks together and being done with it. Gulp. The quilt will also have a white border around it that is the thickness of the blocks.
As you can see, the recently pieced Big Stair (See? Quick and lazy quilt name.) is still waiting on ye olde flannel board to be sammiched and quilted. The beloved Viking better get herself prepared for a workout.I aim to please.

I'm with you on the "quick and easy" quilt patterns. Frankly, I just think they look cleaner and fresher.
As for a name... the blocks sort of remind me of licorice all-sorts candies. (Those might have more layers, but whatever!). So maybe just "all-sorts"? Eh, I suck at naming too. I really like the design, though.
I'm a simple quilter too! I'd like to have a finished product before I'm old, and they are loved just the same :)
I think they look like ice cream sandwiches. dude, i am in awe of your big-quilt abilities.
Look at that tidy loft!!
oops sent the last comment before I could add And look at that fabulous creature!!
LOVE that new quilt design. I like the other ideas already mentioned, but the title I came up with was "Flip-Flop" quilt because it's summery-looking (like flip-flop shoes) and because the white stripes flip and flop from vertical to horizontal. I've just added your design to my "inspiration" list. Thanks!
So here is my name suggestion: Lickady Split. while it isnt quick to probably create (enter in the ironic element) it is split and lickady reminds me of ice cream that reminds me of summer which the quilt looks like to me.
I don't do tiny quilt blocks either. I am all about large, simple, blocky quilts. Sometimes they aren't even blocks but rather strips pieced together. I like instant gratification, when quilting and otherwise. I dig the top on the floor. It looks complicated, but isn't. And I mean that as a compliment. I like the simple charm.
I just adore your attic room.
Hi Lauren.
I just wondered what kind of foot you used for your method of quilting. I loved your texta tutorial and totally get the concept, but couldn't tell how you did the actual stitching. I'd love to try it.
