A Bad Way to End a Weekend
SO I finally sewed something, and it came out looking, I think, pretty great, and it was my first time doing french seams on a bag and I didn't totally mess it up, so I should be pleased, right? I should be resting on my happy, "I made something today" laurels, right? But I'm not, because the REAL goal I had for today was to make a t-shirt, the most basic t-shirt possible, and so I cut out my pattern, and I started putting it together and &%&%*&$%&$%&*&*&*%$&^%$&%** serger, you piece of &*&$*^*&*&^*^&&*##@# is all I have to say.
GAAAAAAAAAH.
(It's actually a nice serger, given to me by the husband as a wedding gift, and I'm very lucky to have one at all, but after re-threading it twice and then having a needle bend, I'm about to chuck it out the window. I don't know how to get the needle out!! I don't know how to put a new one in!! Gaaah, etc.)

Really, I Can Hardly Believe How Lame I Have Become.
Well, no, I can believe it. But I'm sad about it anyway. My "crafting" has turned into "excessive fabric purchasing" and my "craft blog" has become an animal portrait studio. Oh well. Today was a beautiful rainy day, and I am sitting in our newly re-organized (well, not re-, just organized) office, letting the cool spring breeze in while the animals sleep, and it's hard to get TOO disappointed about my lack of productivity. So, more animal photos, more fabric purchases without destinations, and, sewing? What's that?

Rufus T. Firefly
This guy is pretty adorable. I don't know what else there is to say about him. We've reached a state of peaceful co-existence with Baxter, and I'm slowly learning how to photograph a mostly black dog. (A car with a sunroof seems to be the best place to do it.) We've made friends with all neighbor dogs, and are LOVING the dog park. Life's pretty good for this little schnauzer.

Caesar Augustus
I have declared it Animal Photo Week around here, and this is a post for my mom, who will probably look at this sooner or later. This lovely (if slightly grumpy) kitty is her cat Augustus, better known as Gus. He is Baxter's surrogate uncle, although he never took much to Beaster, perhaps due to his habit of treating Gus's big floofy tail like a toy. Aww. Isn't he pretty? Crafts, Schmafts, people.

Busy Week, Lazy Sunday.
It's a very nappy Sunday afternoon around here, but since I finally finished my copy of JCasa's plus quilt, I don't feel bad taking a break. Notice how much Baxter has taken to "helping" me when I'm quilting these days? It's kind of adorable, when he isn't dragging my newly-ironed binding across the floor. This quilt has already been presented to the future parents of little Owen. Congrats, Ben and Emily!
Edit: Check out JCasa's fabulous original here. How awesome is she? So awesome. I think this is my new favorite quilt to make.
