You Guys Wanna Come Over?

My parents came to or apartment this weekend, which of course necessitated a whirlwind cleaning session that I'm not sure resulted in a passing grade, cleanliness-wise (What say you, mom?), but made the place clean enough to photograph. You guys want to take a look around? even when it's cleaning time, the bed just never gets made. We refuse to be grown up about it.
Also, Baxter was a little over enthusiastic about the shower on Saturday, which resulted in a very wet head, and some kitty-toweling off. Isn't he cute when he's irritated and dripping? Isn't he cute always? Sometimes I love him so much I disgust myself.

Talk About Missing It.

So, I seriously have to apologize for my absence, and, as a result, the delay in the great floor-lint giveaway. I'm sorry, I have no real good excuse, other than laziness and preoccupation with mobiles. And going to Iowa, but that's another story. In any case, I have a few announcements to make:
(Drumroll...)
And the winners are, courtesy of Random.com:
Stefanie (Artsy Momma)
Linda P
and Lisa!

Linda and Lisa, I will be emailing you shortly to get addresses, Stefanie, I have yours. I hope to ship all prizey-goodness sometime next week.
Announcement number 2, which is only exciting and/or interesting to me, is that I have a new keyboard, and if you have a Mac but don't have the new flat keyboard, I recommend you go out and gets yourself one immediately, It makes you feel cool, and it really is easier (and faster) to type.Announcement number 3, which is pushing the boundaries of what an announcement should be, is that I FINISHED MY MOBILE! Isn't it pretty? I got a little woodburning thingy. Here's the downside of woodburning: your house smells like burning wood, and you have to open the windows in the middle of winter to insure the fire alarm isn't going to go off.Announcement number 4, if you want to rent a movie, rent "The King of Kong: Fistful of Quarters". I can't say enough about how great this film is. Just see it.
Announcement number 5, Thank you all (if there is anyone) for continuing to read my blog, and this post, because goodness knows at this point it must be getting taxing.
Announcement number 6, recently I've had a lot of time spent driving, and I also unearthed all my old (high school and earlier) CD's. What I've learned is that Semisonic albums, particularly Great Divide, which I think holds up really well after 11 years. I don't know if it's sad or not that my current favorite album at 24 is the same as my favorite album at 13.
Announcement number 7, I am officially addicted to freerice.com
Also, if you want to be made jealous, look at the awesome stuff I received from Kate! Thanks so much! It's all so fabulous!

I Missed It.

I missed my Bloggy Anniversary. Although, one year ago today was my first REAL post, not just the lame introductory post everyone does. Or maybe not everyone's is lame, but mine sure was. I also missed when Kate announced that I had won a random drawing on her blog over the weekend for an awesome stack o' quilting goodness. Lucky me! So, I apologize for being absent, but I've been away lately because of some family-related-stuff. Anyway, to celebrate my semi-bloggoversary, and also my recent win, and also my purchase of a TON of fat quarters very recently, I am going to give away some goodness, potentially including but not limited to:
fat quarters
painted plates
bits of fuzz I find on my floor
some handmade nonsense
and a nice blue pen.
I will draw randomly for the winner from everyone who comments on this post between now and Thursday, and announce the winner on Friday!

Snow Day!

Really, the title says it all. I've been hanging out around the house all day, and let me tell you, after further inspection, my kitchen is dirty. I like to think it's kindof an artful, Donna Hay style dirty, but seriously, who am I kidding? Also, the plate painting factory jerked back into motion today, so check out my etsy shop if you want one. I had to raise the shipping a little, because I realized what I was charging wasn't really covering what I was spending at the post office, and the plates are two different sizes now.

Exciting! Fun! Stuff!

Thank you all so much for your response to the new plates. I am in the process of making more quilty girl plates, which I hope will be up by this Wednesday. I apologize that I don't email everyone back who comments, I love to read your comments, but to be quite honest, I'm a bit flaky when returning email to people whom I've known for ten years (sorry Anna), and awful at initiating email. But it really does mean a lot to me that anyone looks at this site at all, let alone comments on it, so thank you, really. In other news,Abbey of Aesthetic Outburst featured my Thermos collection in a series of posts she is doing about collections. Which is awesome because it is awesome, (yeah, makes sense to me), but also because she is one of the best collectors I've seen out there. I mean, seriously, have you SEEN the bundt pan wall? The girl has mad collecting skill, and does beautiful mixed-media work. SO that's cool.
Speaking of collecting, Super Bowl Sunday means fat-quarter sales in my little corner of the world. The picture up at the top is what 40 fat quarters purchased for a dollar each looks like, kids. I'm especially excited about the polka dotty ones, as I've been feeling lately that my life is sorely lacking in polka dots. But not in polka unfortunately. At school, our current PE unit is roller skating, and in addition to the indignity of roller skating my hiney around a gym, the only CD the school seems to own is an old Weird Al record.
